The Ross Memorial Hospital Auxiliary has, time and again, shown its commitment to the hospital and through several fundraising initiatives each year, has shown its ability to generate the funds needed to purchase equipment and to expand hospital services and facilities.
The Auxiliary operates the HELPP Lottery. Between $15,000 and $18,000 are raised annually through this initiative.
In 1996, the Auxiliary contributed $300,000 to the Foundation's capital campaign.
In June of 2001, the Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation officially launched its Caring for Tomorrow campaign to the public. At the launch, the Foundation announced that it had already received $4.225 million of its $6 million goal in local funds, and this was in large part due to the Auxiliary's contribution of the lead, cornerstone gift of $750,000. In December 2001, the campaign officially closed, raising over $7 million. The Auxiliary met its commitment in November of 2004, presenting a cheque for $750,000 to RMH at its Centennial Celebration.
A further $100,000 was presented to the hospital in May of 2005, and $150,000 in May 2006. That brought the Auxiliary’s contribution to $1,300,000 over the ten years between 1996 and 2006.
In May of 2006, the Auxiliary made a pledge of $500,000.00 toward the new kidney dialysis unit. We fulfilled that commitment in 2008.
Between 2008 and 2010, the Auxiliary raised $300,000 -- half of the total cost of new digital mammography equipment for the Ross.
And in 2011, the Auxiliary made a 5 year pledge to raise $750,000 to help the Imagine the Future capital campaign to purchase an MRI, a new CT scanner and redevelop the Diagnostic Imaging department at the Ross.
Fundraising Initiatives have included tag days, Spring Raffles, Fall and Christmas concerts, Lottery Calendars, Evening of Elegance at East Side Mario’s, the annual Extravaganza Gift Show, Valentine’s Silent Auction, and bake sales and many others.
The Ross Memorial Hospital Auxiliary's impressive physical presence within the hospital and contribution to hospital services is equally matched by our very significant financial contributions to the Hospital.
